After 2 months of hiatus (due to traveling, holidays and other commitments), I’m finally back to regular portrait/fashion photoshoot sessions. Here’s one I did last weekend with Francesca, at the back streets around Central and Surry Hills. One of my favorite areas to shoot portraits due to huge variety of industrial backdrops, quite allies and central location.
Francesca is also clothing designer, but this time we were shooting just some vintage stuff that worked really well within the environment. I’m increasingly finding that integrating some movement and little jumps in the otherwise static portrait really livens up the shot, bodies relax, emotions come out and the end result is more pleasing to the eye.
Here’s a full deck with Francesca. This weekend I’m going in studio for half a day, so excited, have not shoot studio in ages, will keep you posted about results.

Waran @ Potts Point

Meet Waran, yoga instructor, writer, dancer, performer and all in all a very nice person. Originally from California, but living in Australia for quite a few years. I had the opportunity to work with him as part of my project for Sydney suburbs. We were shooting in Potts Point which is amazingly chilled area with spectacular views of Sydney CBD, only few steps away from gritty Kings Cross. Waran had access to roof terrace where we could see all of Sydney’s down town as the summer sun was slowly coming down, most pics in the set where shoot against this backdrop. We even got some curious visitors in form of parakeets and cockatoo looking for some snacks, looked like they’ve done it before, unfortunately we did not have any food at hand.
Photo shoot was retro themed as Waran had quite a few pieces of original clothing from early and mid 20th century such as this navy jacket and cap among other things. So here you go, again, another part of amazing city that is Sydney. Here is full set from the photo shoot.
Veronika on the Rocks

I finally got to do a shoot last weekend, as the weather was lovely 20C and sunny. My feet were itchy and my finger was trigger happy, due to lack of shooting recently, but all this was compensated with great session at Balmain.
Veronika is a Czech model with plenty of catwalk experience and lots of character, just look at this. I love shoots like this, nice and simple, couple of hours, only natural light (open shadow) to give room for shadows to play, diverse and easy to reach location, is all it takes. Here’s a full set.

Last week I had a chance to do a photo session with London based sculptor Bruce Denny. He’s not only a great sculptor, but also a bit of a sculpture himself, as defined and precise as his work.
We were working to create some strong portraits to go for submission at NPG portrait competition. I’ve been wanting to do it for years, but there’s always something in the way (like my lazy ass and other lame excuses). No more excuses, you’ve only got chance of winning if you actually participate. That’s my revelation of the day.
Here’s some more images from the session.
