Look at my brother flying, he’s doing some serious moves on the wakeboard, I even saw his first successful 360 jump, all documented here, good that I had my zoom lens wit me. There are some funny facial expressions too:)

They said Yes

It only took 9 years and several attempts, but finally they did it, they said yes.
I was lucky enough to be part of it. In the lovely Latvian countryside, we ate lots of meet, drunk vodka and listened to smooth songs from the 70ties, yes, nice it was. I even took some pictures here and there, the full set can be seen here.
Latvia in the news (again)

Going through the latest Campaign I noticed in delight that Latvian Tourist Board is mentioned. But my excitement was short lived as Brits only wanted to take the mickey out of us for screwing it up once again. Here is the full text:
‘The Latvian Tourist Board has just sent out a request for information and is either having a laugh or overestimating how desirable its media business is by requesting that all agencies respond in LATVIAN. Somehow, we can’t see COI pitch presentations being put on hold to make room for Latvian language classes.’
Why on earth would you run an international pith process requesting submissions only in Latvian? Assuming that British agencies have been approached, one can assume that final ads will run in English enticing Brits to come to Latvia and spend the last of their pennies. Small chance, I guess our lovely Tourist Board has not noticed in the news that pound has lost 30% of its value against lats during last year.
Two options: we are getting seriously desperate or someone in the labyrinths of bureaucracy has already winner in mind, the one and only who complies with the amusing pre-conditions laid out. I’d like to think it’s the former.
Any thoughts?
Home Sweet Home

I just returned from long weekend at home (Latvia), spent couple of days in Riga with my brother and friends and then couple days at my parents place. It was packed agenda with lots of eating, drinking and of course catching up with family and friends, I even managed to squeeze in 2 doctor appointments (sorry NHS, the service is better and prices are cheaper).
I can now rest assured that all things are still in order in my little homeland. “Dizkibele” (aka the great depression Latvian style) is still in full swing. Government is still cutting the pensions and increasing the taxes (shouldn’t it be the other way around?!). I also found out that all my (few) previous girlfriends officially are now happily married and with kids (hmm). I learnt that our national fish ‘negis’ is called ‘lamprey’ and our national fruit ‘cidonija’ is called ‘quince’ in English, have you ever tried either of these? My girlfriend tried both, she’s brave.
But be vary of drinking too much home made horseradish vodka, it can provoke excess of brotherly love (see the pic above).

Last weekend @100%design exhibition in London I did a quick shoot for my friends from Znak – design start up company from Latvia, that use work of popular Latvian contemporary artists and turn it into design wallpapers and other neat things. Great little concepts, hope it sells. The signs are good, as even my girlfriend likes their stuff, and she’s a hard sell, nothing less than Orla Kiely design can go on her walls.
Ivo and Inese are great characters. Inese likes to strike a pose, in between talking to potential customers, give her 5 seconds and this little gem comes out.

Whilst Ivo is more of a salesmen, really focused on spreading the word. Good luck guys.

Full set of pics from 100%design can be seen here.
